"I give a 110% endorsement to the BrainFit for Life program. It is a must for kids from 1 to 100. It will demand your attention and give you the all important game plan for change."

-Dr. Dean Miller, former NASA Director of Physiological Research.

Your brain is always changing

Your brain is changing and it will continue to change your entire life. Yes, your brain is aging along with the rest of your body, but that’s not all that we are talking about here. A very important thing to realize is that your brain responds and adapts to the environment you live in and the experiences that you have.

Thoughts are things. They are electrical and chemical activities that by their very existence are changing the physical structure of your brain. Although you can’t stop it (and you wouldn’t want to), you can have some control over it. The question then becomes, are you changing your brain for better or for worse?

You can keep your brain young

We used to think that you had all the brain cells you were going to get shortly after birth. We thought that as you aged you slowly lost brain cells, causing an irreversible downward spiral. We now know that's not really true.

Brain cells are lost throughout life, but recent research finds that new ones are also created. You can maintain a healthy and vibrant brain as long as you do what is necessary to keep those brain cells coming and put them to proper use.

Beyond making new brain cells, making more connections between those that you already have is also incredibly important. No matter if you are 10, 40 or 90 years old, the health of your brain is the single biggest factor that determines your quality of life.

Focus on the four cornerstones of brain fitness

The lifestyle choices you make everyday are the single biggest factors that contribute to your level of brain fitness. Science has proven that physical activity, mental actiivty, appropriate sleep and quality nutrition all affect the health of your brain and your ability to maintain life-long cognitive fitness.

At the same time, life should be enjoyed. Incorporating the four cornerstones of brain fitness into your life in an enjoyable and sustainable way, is our mission at BrainFit for LifeTM. We understand that you can only achieve true life-long health by focusing on what you like, not just on what someone told you is good for you. We are all different.

There's more to intelligence than meets the eye

The fitness of your brain controls several kinds of intelligence. Each of these contributes to your success in different areas of your life.

Emotional Intelligence (EQ) is your ability to control your own emotions, regulate your mood, control your stress levels, and appropriately read the emotions of others. The more you work on your EQ, the more confident you become. With confidence you can tackle any challenge, build deep realtionships and attain any goal.

Physical Intelligence (PQ) is your brain's ability to control your body. Your brain controls your metabolism, body weight, immune system, heart rate, blood pressure, diet cravings and nearly everything else. The higher your PQ the smoother your body systems function and the healthier you can be. Improving your PQ and giving your brain back the control over your body is within your control.

Cognitive Intelligence (IQ) is your booksmarts, creativity and artistic talent. The higher your IQ, the greater your ability to remember what you have learned, solve problems, make decisions easily and work creatively. Importantly, you can improve these abilities at any age. It is not necessary to blindly accept losing brain health as you age. You can make scientifically tested choices everyday to improve the vitality of your brain and your odds of staying sharp throughout life.

You can improve your Brain Fitness at any age

Like anything else in life, the sooner you get started working on your brain fitness, the better - but it is never too late. There are simple things that you can do on a regular basis to improve your brain today and keep your mind sharp.

The brain is like any other 'muscle' in your body. If you nourish it, exercise it, and rest it appropriately, it gets stronger. If you neglect to take care of it, you may lose brain function as it whithers away.

The important thing is to get the variety you need to ensure that you work on all of your intelligences at the same time. You must work on your emotional, physical and intellectual fitness simultaneously because they are all related. They all interact to make each other stronger.

A complete brain fitness plan will show you how to use all the parts of your brain together in order to get the maximum effect.
